As we move further into the post-PC world, gadgets will get even smaller, powerful and internet-connected. Apple’s iPhone and iPad will be challenged by a raft of sleek smartphone and tablet competitors based on Google’s Android platform, which advanced in leaps and bounds in 2011.

Voice control and face recognition will be integrated into many more devices starting with televisions and smartphones, while web-enabled TVs will increasingly compete with the networks to deliver shows and movies to viewers.

Online content piracy will remain a serious issue and pressure will build on the government to find a solution. Security and privacy breaches will continue to expose our private data and periodically cut off access to the electronic services we depend on, such as banking. If we are lucky, service providers will have learnt from the many IT security disasters of past years.

Companies such as Apple, Samsung, Facebook and Google look set for a stellar year while Nokia, BlackBerry and Microsoft will increasingly be sidelined. But the real power this year will be with individuals – people like you – who can now create global waves, embarrass companies and even start revolutions with a single tweet.

“I have beeing using the SMS service for 3 years now and it is wonderful. Fast delivery and only $0.04/SMS. Totally recommended.”

Mark Sayter, London

“Awesome service. My account was instantly active after I ordered and Network Panda did made the transfer from my previous host, without any cost. Actually I just did nothing, they promptly did the entire job of transferring my files, databases with thousands of posts and members and updating my domain's nameservers.”

Carl Weislam, allglobenews.net

“Managing a website has become a completely awesome experience ever since I switched to Network Panda half a year ago. My website has become really fast and responsive, my traffic has tripled and I have never had any problems.

“I just wanted to say Thank You. Nick offered an excellent swift service that got my site back on line within minutes after I rendered it unusable by my fault. I was recommended to use Network Panda by a friend as they are reliable and offer great value for money. But the icing on the cake for me is the excellent friendly support staff that help and resolve queries in record time 24/7.”
